Accessibility Statement

The Sylvan Thirty Tenant Association is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all visitors, including people with disabilities.

Last updated: January 13, 2026

Our Commitment

We believe that access to information is a fundamental right. As a tenant advocacy organization, we understand that our community includes people of all abilities. Everyone deserves equal access to resources that help protect their housing rights.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Accessibility Features

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Use Tab to navigate, Enter to activate links and buttons, and Escape to close menus.

Screen Reader Support

Our website uses semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading hierarchy to work well with screen readers like NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.

Skip Links

A 'Skip to main content' link is available at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation menus.

Color Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast requirements, ensuring readability for users with low vision or color blindness.

Responsive Design

Our website adapts to different screen sizes and supports zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Focus Indicators

Clear visual focus indicators help keyboard users track their position when navigating the website.

Alternative Text

Images include descriptive alternative text for screen reader users. Decorative images are marked appropriately.

Form Labels

All form fields have associated labels and clear error messages to assist users in completing forms successfully.

Conformance Status

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. This includes:

  • Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presentable in ways users can perceive, including text alternatives and captions.
  • Operable: User interface components and navigation are operable via keyboard, with sufficient time to read content.
  • Understandable: Information and operation of the user interface is understandable, with readable text and predictable functionality.
  • Robust: Content is robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Browser and Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following:

  • Chrome (latest 2 versions)

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist:

  • PDF documents: Some older PDF resources may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these documents. Contact us for accessible alternatives.
  • Third-party content: External links and embedded content from other websites may not meet our accessibility standards.
  • User-generated content: Photos and descriptions submitted by community members may lack alt text or proper formatting.

We are actively working to address these limitations and welcome your feedback to help us improve.
